In case you missed it, Snapchat launched an augmented reality ad unit. It is something that might overcome their famous Face Filters. Companies can pay for their users to see graphics and texts overlaid what they see through their phone’s camera. This new feature is called “Sponsored World Lenses.” It has as first sponsors, companies like Warner Brothers and Netflix. Thus, Snapchat argues that is just getting better thanks to their quality products. Although you can find many similar options on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
On the other hand, what seemed obvious, finally happened. Instagram knows how to win a battle, and probably, win the war too. If Snapchat thought that this time would have glory moment, then, they thought wrong. We already told you about the personal battle between these two (or three if you consider Facebook as Instagram’s father) companies. Apparently, the battlefield is just getting bigger, and they are ready to strike. So, no questions why Instagram also decided to take a big step this week.
We’re sorry for Snapchat’s good and better tries. Even though what they’re doing is certainly improving Social Media benefits and awesomeness, it seems like it’s never enough. Sadly (or luckily for Instagram) people want what they want on their preferred platform, no matter how cool new features are in another app. If people prefers Instagram, there’s nothing we can do about it. That’s a virtue and a curse, but definitely, it’s the reality. Accordingly, we want to show what’s new in the Instagram world. We tell you, it’s something you’ve waited.
Face Filters are here!
We still don’t know how Instagram is going to overcome Snapchat’s dog face filter. But, what we certainly know is, they’re ready to do it. Thence, they finally launched what all iggers was waiting for: Face Filters. Yes! It’s similar to Snapchat’s filters but in the comfort zone of Instagram Stories. Instagram is always thinking of how to improve the users’ experience and creativity. Now, you can turn your selfies into something colorful and funny. No matter where you are, it’s always a perfect time for a cool selfie, right?
While there’s only a few of them yet, you can start experimenting. Recreate your version of the popular meme with a confused face and math equations. Maybe, if you’re a girl, you can feel more pretty with crown filters. On the other hand, if you’re feeling sassy, go for the rabbit ears and nose. Besides, you can share the fun with a friend, using some nerdy glasses and joke about it. Eight is the number of the first filters, and they’re waiting for you.
All you have to do for using them is the next few steps:
– Go to Play Store/App Store, look for your Instagram app and click to get the new update. In case you haven’t the update, just keep calm and wait until it’s available.
– Open Instagram Stories as you normally do. Then, look on the border right corner, and you’ll see a new face icon. Press on that face and swipe to try the eight filters!
– You can use both front and back camera to take a picture with a filter. So, if you want a selfie or take a pic of your friend, you can do it! Besides, if you want to go further, you can also make a video (including a Boomerang and Rewind) using filters. How cool is that?
– Sharing is the same method than ever. Share to a friend only or post it on your public Stories.
In the era where chat can be made only by using GIFs, no wonder why people loved boomerang. The idea of a funny image in movement is fantastic, fresh, and reliable. So, why not keep applying tools for pictures or videos like this? Of course, they would do it, and we are glad that the next one in line is here.
Now, you can make videos in reverse with the new option “Rewind.” It is located right next to the Boomerang and Hands-Free options. So, go ahead and recreate all those crazy rewind scenes from your favorite music videos. Jump into a pool and make people think you can fly. Besides, you can challenge gravity by letting the water fall from glass and come back to fill it. Sounds as cool as it is!
Instagram gave us the chance to tag our friends involved in a story. Now, they also provide us with the power to use hashtags! We’ve been desperate for this feature. People was already using hashtags inside their stories. Although they didn’t link to anywhere, it was only flat text. Now, you can bring those hashtags to life.
To add a functional hashtag, you just have to look at the top right, click on the stickers icon, select, and write your hashtag phrase, and add it to the story. Now, you can also apply your Branding Hashtags to Instagram Stories and improve the strategy!
For those drawing fanatics that enjoy brushes as much as we do, here is good news. A new Eraser Brush was added to drawing tools. So, take a funny picture, put a full color over it and start erasing some parts. This way, people could see what’s underneath the color screen. Trick your friends with jokes or create beautiful quotes, it’s all up to you. Also available for videos!
Creativity has no limits, and now, you have new tools. Go ahead, try all the new features and tell us how they work. Also, comment us about all the ways you find to use it. Could it work for creating a fiction story? A mysterious contest?
