Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world. Moreover, it is one of the platforms that generates the most money from the internet. As a matter of fact, the photo-sharing company is worth about $535 billion. So, what does a company do with so much money?
Well, they invest. And in the case of Facebook, the company has invested in buying different platforms. For example, Instagram and Whatsapp are both owned by Facebook. However, there are still some people who somehow don’t know about this.
But, that’s changing today. You see, Facebook has decided to rebrand both Instagram and Whatsapp to Instagram from Facebook, and Whatsapp from Facebook. And today we are telling you the reason behind this change.
The Reason Behind The Rebranding
So, users in general were somewhat confused about Facebook rebranding two of its apps. But, sooner rather than later, a Facebook spokesperson provided information as to why the company made this decision.
“We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,” He said. In other words, Facebook wants to make it clear to people that they own some of the most popular apps in the world. But, here’s what’s interesting.
People have come out to give their opinions regarding this topic. And some of them could not understand why Facebook would want to associate its name with two apps that haven’t been involved in a scandal.
Unfortunately, Facebook was part of a major scandal a while back ago. And adding its name to both Instagram and WhatsApp doesn’t really sound like a good strategy. Mostly, because neither of these apps has been involved in any scandals ever.
Nevertheless, people will continue to use the platforms regardless of what name they have.
Where Can I See The Changes?
Instagram and WhatsApp will continue to appear under the same names that we all know. However, when accessing the PlayStore or AppStore, we will indeed see the change to the branding. But, don’t worry, it’s not really in the name itself.
As a matter of fact, the only way you can see the “from Facebook” add on is if you go to the description of the apps. Finally, when entering Instagram settings, you will have to scroll down to the very end to see the change on the branding.
In a nutshell, Facebook did rebrand both Instagram and WhatsApp. But, they didn’t really make it easy to spot. So, tell us. What do you think about these changes? Do you like them? Let us know in the comments below.
