One of my favourite things about social media platforms is that you get access to pretty much everything. Memes, videos, photos, gifs, news, you name it. However, there’s one thing that bothers me a lot. And that is to look at the intense white colour most social media platforms have.
Unfortunately, the most popular social media sites on the internet have white as the primary colour. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitter. The fact of the matter is that this should not be such a big problem. But, when you spend hours in front of a computer, or a cellphone screen just like me, the white colour of these sites becomes annoying.
Luckily, there’s this thing called “dark mode” – our mighty saviour! Dark mode is this feature some social media platforms have to allow its users to change the intense white for a darker tone that helps our eyes to rest. And guess what? Instagram just joined the party!
Instagram Dark Mode
In its 9 years of existence, Instagram has added tons and tons of features for us to enjoy. However, over that period of time, the platform has never opted to change the white colour of the home screen. That is of course, until now.
Better late than never, don’t you think? So, here’s the thing. People are crazy in love with dark modes. YouTube has it, and if I am not mistaken, Facebook is currently working on that as well. But, what about Instagram? Well, the photo-sharing app is joining the trend too. And today we are going to teach you how to access the famous dark mode.
Quick note before we get started: Unfortunately, Instagram’s dark mode only works for iOS devices. So, if you own an Android phone, we advise you to wait a little longer until the feature becomes available on these devices too. Don’t worry, we will keep you updated.
How to Enable Instagram’s dark mode
So, enabling the dark mode on iOS devices is a piece of cake. Here’s what you need to do. First of all, make sure that Instagram has been updated to its latest version. Then go to your iPhone’s settings and look for “Display”. Tap it, and then switch from light to dark.
That will automatically change Instagram’s colour from white to black. And that’s pretty much it. Enjoy the new dark mode.
As we mentioned before, Instagram’s dark mode is yet to become available on Android devices. However, there’s really not much to worry about since the feature has been confirmed to be operative on Android as well.
So, all we have to do is wait. Now tell us, what other social media platform do you think would look good with a dark mode?
