Instagram Founders Leave Forever – What Will Happen?
Instagram has been part of our lives for over 8 years now. Since its release in 2010, the photo-sharing app has never stopped surprising us with new updates. Currently, Instagram updates itself at least twice a month.
However, we don’t know what to expect now that its founders are leaving for good. In fact, people are getting concerned about Instagram turning into another Facebook. Instagram founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, have been an important part of the improvement of the app throughout the years.
Therefore, it’s understandable for people to wonder what will happen now that they are leaving. But, before we get into that, let’s talk about the reason for their departure.
The Reason Behind The Departure
Instagram founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger notified both Facebook and the IG leadership team that they are leaving. Of course, the reason behind their departure is not exactly public.
However, there are rumours indicating that there has been tension during the year between Instagram and Facebook, regarding the autonomy of Instagram. Some people believe this is the actual reason why the founders are leaving for good. In fact, it is known that Facebook promised Instagram autonomy. However, it has reduced over time.
The stress that Facebook imposed has also lead to other departures. Earlier this year, Instagram’s director of public policy Nicole Jackson Colaco decided to leave the company.
The same thing happened with Instagram’s COO Marne Levine. Levine simply decided to go back to work for Facebook. So, she left Instagram without a replacement for her position.
Concerns Of The Users
When Facebook bought Instagram, many users were worried it would all change. In fact, people used to think the app would no longer be the same. However, things went better than expected.
Nevertheless, this time things are a bit different. For the past 6 years, Instagram founders have been working alongside Facebook to improve the app constantly. Unfortunately, now that they are leaving, nobody knows what will happen to the platform.
The main concern is: will Instagram collect personal data for advertising the way Facebook does? In short, people are worried about their privacy. But, for now, it seems that there is nothing to worry about.
In fact, we are more than confident that Instagram will continue to grow as it has been doing for the past years.
We understand many users are worried about what will come next. However, we are more than confident that Instagram will continue to grow and bring us new surprises. As for the founders, we have nothing but gratitude for them.
We sincerely hope they do great in their next projects and live their lives to the full.
