Instagram School Stories
Instagram has proven to be working very hard in making the platform the best it can be for all of us. Currently, the photo-sharing app is working on something quite different than what we are used to. This time it has nothing to do with business or video improvements, but with security.
Instagram has announced to be currently working on a school-based version of Stories. But, how does this provide security? Well, keep reading to find out.
Security
First of all, let’s get one thing straight. Crime is everywhere. Unfortunately, as years have passed, crime has found a place even in online communities. Consequently, pervs and different types of criminals use social media to contact underage girls, or to sell drugs to school students.
Therefore, it is important to take matters into our hands and come up with ideas to prevent teenagers from being harmed.
In short, the idea behind this new possible feature is to limit the interaction of school students with people outside their schools. However, there is still no confirmation of when this new feature will be launched.
Finally, it was also announced that school Stories would manually be reviewed to make sure the community is safe.
Note
A while back, Snapchat came up with the idea of a Stories feature. Unfortunately, shortly after, Instagram decided to copy the idea – and did much better. Well, did you know Snapchat had also thought about a school Stories feature way before Instagram did?
That’s right, back in 2015 Snapchat experimented with school Stories as well. They launched a short-lived feature called “Our Campus Story.” Unfortunately, it did not work for them as it will possibly work for Instagram.
Final Thoughts
In short, the idea is to create a school-based version of Stories that would only contain content from a particular school’s student body.
When it comes to security, one can never be too careful. Currently, there are thousands of crimes committed through social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and more. Unfortunately, nobody has been able to do something about it yet. However, with this new possible update, we hope harassment and all those sort of things stop, or at least can be reduced.
