Social media is simply wonderful. But, there are times when people get a bit sick of it. For example, those who have ever been in a WhatsApp group know exactly what it feels like to receive notifications all the time.
Fortunately, there’s an option that allows users to silence those notifications, and forget about that annoying feature for a while. The same thing happens with Instagram. Indeed, the photo-sharing platform will send you constant updates about every new post, Instagram live-stream, and Story that the people who you follow share.
Now, for some time Instagram users simply had to learn how to cope with this. But, things have now changed. As a matter of fact, Instagram recently rolled out a new feature that allows users to pause notifications for a certain period of time. So, how does it work? Well, keep reading as we will walk you through the whole process of pausing notifications on Instagram.
Pause Notifications On Instagram
First of all, you will need to enter Instagram on your phone and open your settings. In order to do that, go to the profile icon on the bottom right of your screen and then tap the three lines on the top right.
At the very bottom, you will find the settings option. Simply tap it and then look for the notifications option. Finally, tap where it says “Pause all” and voilà. Instagram won’t notify you about any new posts the people who you follow might share. However, unlike WhatsApp, Instagram only allows you to pause notification for up to 8 hours.

Unfortunately, enabling this feature will pause ALL notifications. In other words, you can’t choose who’s account to silence for a while. If you enable the Instagram pause feature, your phone will go silent for the time you set.
However, there are other ways in which you can stop getting notified about certain people on your Instagram. For example, the Instagram mute feature is a very good option.
Now, let’s keep in mind that the “pause all” option is new. So, who knows? Maybe Instagram will update in the future and allow users to select which notifications to pause. We’ll just have to wait and see.
