There was a time when Snapchat was a popular platform among people. In fact, Facebook even tried to buy it for $3B in 2013. But, Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel rejected the offer.
Since then, the social media platform has lost hundreds of thousands of users. But that’s not all. It even lost 1.3 billion dollars in stocks in 2018 when Kylie Jenner tweeted the following:
Evidently, Snapchat hasn’t been in luck these past few years. But, there is always time to start over and be better. And that is exactly what the social media platform is doing now.
You see, Snapchat is seeking to reinvent itself so that it can once again compete against Instagram. And these are some of the new features they are releasing to make that happen.
Snapchat New Features
So, Snapchat has come up with new features that are actually pretty good. As a matter of fact, most of these features are unique. But, what does this mean? Well, it means that Snapchat is the first app to actually integrate the things we are about to list into its software.
Hopefully, this will help the social media platform gain more users in the next few years. That is of course, assuming that Instagram won’t release similar features to the ones Snapchat has just launched.
Math Problem Solver
The first feature worth mentioning is the math problem solver. You see, Snapchat has integrated a scan option into its camera that allows people to do a wide number of things. For example, if you have a math problem to solve, simply open Snapchat’s camera and scan it for it to solve it.
Integration With Amazon
Snapchat has also partnered up with Amazon to let people buy things they scan. For example, let’s say you want to know how much your friend’s new iPad is. Simply access the Snapchat camera, select “Scan”, and point your phone to the product.
Doing so will show you the prices of the product you are interested in on Amazon. Then, you can decide whether or not you want to buy it. Pretty cool eh?
Snap Games
Finally, Snapchat has also release Snap Games. Perhaps the best feature so far. There are literally millions of people who love playing on their phones. So, we can only guess that this is going to be a success. As a matter of fact, Snap games are actually pretty good.
For instance, you can play with your friends in real time and earn rewards to pass new levels while doing it. So far, there are over 10 games you can start playing now.
Final Thoughts
So, Snapchat is really working hard on becoming a better platform. Still, we don’t really know if it will ever reach Instagram’s success. Just think about it. Currently, Instagram has over a billion monthly active users.
Snapchat on the other hand only has 300m. Nevertheless, we can’t deny that the social media platform is actually putting a lot of effort into being what it used to be. Personally, I like its new features.
So, let’s just hope it all works out. Maybe if they are as consistent as Instagram when it comes to releasing new features, more users will start to use the app.
